FAQ
How does this work?
This works by making it very difficult for your child to play LOL. Its not fool proof, but hopefully it will give him enough time to wean off his/her addiction to the game. Future versions will make it fool proof.
Why did you build this?
I am a parent & searched the internet to find a good way to block this. Most of the instructions on the web involve complex router changes that are impossible to understand for many. I decided to make it simpler & create an effective solution.
Is this foolproof?
No, this is not foolproof. My son is always a step ahead of me so I am always trying to beat him :-). I am sure at some point he will figure it out & I will update with a newer version :-). Sign up for email updates...
What is the best way to make your Mac more secure?
The most important thing you can do is to harden your Mac by making sure there is only ONE ADMIN ACCOUNT. Make sure there is a difference between a user account & an admin account. Follow the steps below to harden your Mac OSX from a security perspective.
1. Login to your account. This needs to be an Admin account
2. Launch System Preferences from the Dock
3. Click on System > Users & Groups
4. Create a new account named admin. (This should be the only admin account on your MAC)
5. Make sure all the other user accounts are Standard accounts, Non-Admin accounts
Never run anything, even your browser under an admin account. If any program needs admin previleges it will ask you to enter your admin username & password.
